Marion County Historical Society & Museum

(304) 367-5398

The Marion County Historical Society & Museum hosts a collection of amazing and diverse artifacts from past centuries. The museum and the society provide a connection to the events, times, fashions and culture of days past; everyone, regardless of age, can appreciate the fascinating history waiting here that can be explored time and time again. In 1986, the Marion County Commission offered the former home of county sheriffs, built around 1912, to the Society for use as a museum. It opened on Labor Day, 1986. Rooms in the house represent different eras in United States history. It features furnishing and artifacts of several historical periods. The emphasis is on West Virginia's history and contribution to our nation.
